London / Los Angeles, 6th October – Content Media Corporation (Content) revealed today that it has unified its industry leading distribution, sales and servicing operations. A refined, multi-dimensional operation has been forged by merging the formerly separate film and television distribution divisions into a single enhanced operation with cross-disciplinary scale commensurate with evolving industry needs. As a result of this strategic move, Content will replace separately branded film and television distribution teams with one distribution organization under the Content Media banner. The announcement was made by Content CEO John Schmidt.

With offices in both London and Los Angeles, the combined sales team will be headed up by Jonathan Ford, Executive Vice President Sales and Distribution. Ford will report to the President of the Content Media distribution division, Greg Phillips.  Both Ford and Phillips are based in London. Jamie Carmichael, the Los Angeles based President of Film at Content Media, will continue to lead major film acquisitions and productions, and will work closely with Jonathan Ford on film sales worldwide.

John Schmidt said, “We have seen our film and television sales efforts converge over the past few years, and we have seen the emergence of global digital platforms.  In putting our worldwide distribution together in one team, we will have a more efficient and forward-looking approach, and we will be well positioned for the future. Independent film and television have blended together creatively, and this is now reflected in distribution. Ultimately it’s about delivering great content to our partners and customers in any form and on any platform.”

Greg Phillips added, “Unifying our film, television and digital divisions to create one cohesive and synergised sales force is the next important step in the evolution of the company.  As the lines of trade and content blur we have determined that a unified sales operation will better serve all our production and acquisition clients around the world.”

Jamie Carmichael said, “This is an extremely exciting time for Content Media and we are remarkably well positioned for the evolving media landscape in front of us.  Our combined reach into the converging worlds of film and TV is second to none.  Working with our Head of Production, Tom Butterfield, I’m looking forward to bringing premium projects of all genres to our enhanced sales machine and sharing them with our distribution partners around the world.”

Leading television titles distributed by Content Media include the critically acclaimed and multiple award winning Line of Duty, Deadpan Pictures’ Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope, Alex Gibney’s provocative The 4%: Film’s Gender Problem, Jack Taylor starring Iain Glen, long-running drama series 19-2 and ten-part non-fiction series Rumble & Hum. The company recently signed an exclusive first look agreement with Dublin-based award-winning producers Deadpan Pictures, adding to further first look deals with leading producer Keo Films for its scripted programming, Caryn Mandabach Productions and 40 Partners.
