KEW MEDIA DISTRIBUTION RECEIVES UNPRECEDENTED GLOBAL BROADCASTER INTEREST IN CHANNEL 4/HBO’S COMPELLING DOCUMENTARY LEAVING NEVERLAND

Following a highly successful premiere screening at the recent Sundance Film Festival, leading global distributor Kew Media Distribution, part of Kew Media Group, has received unprecedented interest from broadcasters around the world eager to acquire Leaving Neverland, the Channel 4 and HBO co-production by award-winning director Dan Reed. Through a host of key individual and pan-territory deals more than 130 countries are set to air the two-part production.

Among the line-up of channels which have already acquired the documentary are ProSiebenSAT.1 Group, Network 10 Australia, HBO Latin America, DR Denmark, VPRO Netherlands, SVT Sweden, Channel One Russia, VRT Belgium, TVNZ New Zealand, yes Israel, Amedia TV Russia, YLE Finland, FOX Networks Group Asia, Front Row Filmed Entertainment in the Middle East, RUV Iceland, M6 France, Movistar+ Spain and HBO Europe operating in Central Europe.  Additionally, there are a considerable number of deals which are currently in the final stages of negotiation.

When allegations of abuse by Jackson involving young boys surfaced in 1993, many found it hard to believe that he could be guilty of such unspeakable acts. Leaving Neverland explores the experiences of two young boys, James Safechuck, at age ten, and Wade Robson, at age seven, who were both befriended by Jackson. They and their families were entranced by the singer’s fairy-tale existence as his career reached its peak.

Through gut-wrenching interviews with Safechuck and Robson, now in their 30s, as well as their mothers, wives and siblings, Leaving Neverland crafts a portrait of sustained abuse, and explores the complicated feelings that led both men to confront their experiences after both had a young son of their own. Playing out against the backdrop of our collective experience, the film documents the value of breaking silence, even when it implicates a powerful and revered figure.

Leaving Neverland, commissioned by HBO’s Nancy Abraham and Lisa Heller and Channel 4’s Tom Porter and Daniel Pearl is made by AMOS Pictures and will premiere on HBO and Channel 4 in March.
