A Child's Christmas in Wales

A Child's Christmas in Wales

Synopsis

In this hour-long adaptation of the Dylan Thomas' Christmas classic, the familiar words of Denholm Elliott, portraying Old Geraint, as he begins to tell his grandson, Thomas, about the Christmases he remembers from his Welsh boyhood when the "snow was not only shaken from whitewash buckets down the sky, it came shawling out of the ground and swam and drifted out of the arms and hands and bodies of the trees.

This adaptation is so true to the spirit of the poem, so authentically of its time and place (1930s Wales), and so inventive in its imagery, it is as if Thomas' words shimmered off the page and onto film.
